Auroras in Kiwiland are extremely rare. This is because Kiwiland can only see an aurora when it is a KP=7+ aurora. In the last 10 years, only 2 auroras have been visible from Kiwiland.

October 2003[]

On the night of October 30, 2003 the skies were very clear and the aurora levels would be a KP=9, the highest on the scale. Over 50,000 people gathered on top of Crowford Cliff to see the auroras. Kiwi City is the only place in Kiwiland to have no reports of aurorae due to large light pollution.

August 2011[]

On the afternoon of August 5, 2011 a Coronal Mass Ejection hit Earth producing KP=8 auroras. Once again, people gathered on top of Crowford Cliff. It was cloudy for most of the day, with the clouds breaking up. Kiwi City did record an aurora.

On August 12 2011, KTV1 will air a documentary about the Kiwish Auroras called 'The Kiwish Lights'.
